In freestyle wrestling classes, one learns the sport of grappling, where the goal is to throw the opponent, control them on the mat, and earn points using various throws, takedowns, and holding techniques. Participants develop strength, endurance, quick reaction, flexibility, and body control in close contact situations. During classes, great attention is given to technique, safe falling, understanding tactics, and the ability to read the opponent's actions. Both offensive and defensive actions are learned, strengthening overall physical fitness and combat thinking. Training develops discipline, determination, and sports will, allowing improvement both as an athlete and as a person.
